Where the Sun Sets

Join Orchestra Nova LA for Where the Sun Sets, a concert inspired by that golden-hour feeling when the day winds down and everything feels a little more vivid. The evening opens with the sweeping, cinematic atmosphere of Jason Polychronakos’s Where the Sun Sets, followed by the warm melodies and bold energy of Henry Cowell’s Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 3. The program continues with the searching lyricism of Samuel Barber’s First Essay for Orchestra before building to the powerful, heart-stirring drama of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.

Whether you’re a longtime orchestral music fan or just looking for a beautiful night out, this program captures reflection, intensity, and that quiet spark of possibility that comes just before dark.

PROGRAM:

Jason Polychronakos // Where the Sun Sets
Henry Cowell // Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 3
Samuel Barber // First Essay for Orchestra, Op. 12
