Sophie Barnard (Director of Artistic Operations)
Sophie Barnard is a music industry professional and arts leader working at the intersection of music, media, and community. She currently works in sync licensing at Sony Music, where she represents catalog artists for placements across video games, film, television, sports, and other visual media. Her work focuses on helping connect iconic music with storytelling and cultural moments across entertainment.
In addition to her work at Sony, Sophie serves as Director of Artistic Operations for Orchestra Nova LA, a nonprofit community orchestra dedicated to innovative, accessible concert experiences in Los Angeles. In this role, she oversees concert production, marketing, communications, and artistic planning, helping lead the organization’s brand strategy and audience growth initiatives while developing programs designed to engage broader audiences.
Sophie graduated from the USC Thornton School of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance and a minor in Music Industry, combining a foundation in classical performance with a strong interest in the business and evolving landscape of music. She is currently pursuing her MBA through the UCLA Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA) program, where she is focused on leadership, organizational behavior, and strategy within creative industries. Passionate about the future of music and arts engagement, she enjoys exploring new ways to build community through live experiences, storytelling, and technology.
